MicroBusiness Seminars The Columbia Hudson Partnership offers MicroBusiness Seminars to people looking to start new businesses in Columbia County. This 8-week instructional course with classes one day a week is offered two to three times a year for groups of approximately 15. Experts in fields from planning, marketing, and accounting to computer systems and employee management serve as instructors and advisors. There is a cost of $150 for each participant, which is refundable through credits to purchase business-related materials, such as software, upon successful completion of the course.
One-on-One Technical Assistance Columbia Hudson Partnership offers one-on-one-technical assistance to make your business successful. This occurs before, as well as after, you get a loan. Assistance is provided by business consultants who act as mentors to the entrepreneur. This technical assistance is available to all MicroBusiness graduates at no charge.
Permitting Assistance CHP can provide valuable assistance in obtaining state and local permits.
Columbia-Greene Workforce Investment System Columbia-Greene Community College is also the location of the Columbia Greene One-Stop Career Center, established under the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) as part of the Columbia-Greene Workforce Investment System. The One-Stop Career Center serves both job seekers and employers. Core services provided through the One-Stop system include labor market information, job listings, employer information, résumé software, workshops, computer and Internet access, initial assessment and eligibility for services under WIA, and information on service providers and agencies. Education and employment training services are available to customers who meet certain requirements. The Columbia-Greene One-Stop Career Center is aware of the importance of the business community as customers in the workforce investment system. The local area uses appropriate funding to provide incumbent worker training through Columbia-Greene Community College, Questar III BOCES and other contracted providers.
